UNION STATION BREWERY,
36 Exchange Terrace, Providence, 274-2739.This brew pub and restaurant is the kind of high-energy place that attracts a diverse crowd whose average age drops as the night goes on. The West Coast Pale Ale ($3.25/pint) is a good choice for the beer drinker who doesn't go for heavier brews. And it's perfect for washing down one of Union Station's award-winning pizza appetizers, featuring crust made with malted grain left over from the brewing process. The menu offers plenty of meat selections hefty enough to stand up to stronger brews. The grilled pork chops ($14.95), moist and lean, measured in at well over an inch thick. And the blackened chicken breast ($10.95) was pleasingly crispy on the outside while still tender on the inside. Note: Expect a wait for a table on weekend nights.
